Three Long Years

Umm...yeah, so if you haven't figured it out yet, blogging is not really high on my to do list. However, since I'm here, Let's Blog!

So, first off, here is the World Wide Web debut of our yearly Christmas pic!

Ellena is quite a bit bigger than her last photo on here, considering it was a sonogram and all. It's been over three years since that post and our little girl is about to turn three years old. Wow, time has flown.

Sadly, in the in-between time, we had to say goodbye to Ayda. She went through two bouts of cancer and we had to let her go. She's still quite missed but we now have Jane Deborah (JD) to demand our attention. JD is just a little over a year old now and has been with us for a full year. I'll get a pic of her up later.

Anyway, that's enough for now. I don't want to wear this thing out...

Peanut Update

What?  It hasn't been a year yet and I'm posting again?  Wow...

So, we're 43 days out from Peanut's due date.  Had our first child-birthing class two nights ago and Katherine has breast-feeding class tonight.  Have a crib set up, dresser in place and will get the chest of drawers in the next week or so.  It's all coming together.

Here's one of the latest sonograms.  At the 2:08 mark you'll see Peanut get ill because Katherine was poking and prodding to get he/she moving:

Enjoy!

Okay, it has been well over a year since my last post. No garden this year, but there's been a whole lot of other changes. We have a new car. The Buick finally was getting to be a liability due to the fact of this:

So I now have a 2013 Mazda CX-5 that can safely accommodate Peanut.

A New Year and the beginnings of a new garden

Well, we have planted our seeds in our peet pellets. We have green bean plants, okra plants, and green pepper plants that are coming out. We are just waiting for them to grow a little more so they can be planted in the garden in a few weeks. Of course, that does mean that the garden does need to be tilled soon. Guess we'll get to that eventually. Until then, maybe we'll have enough plants to spring up to make more than a "three bean salad".

Have a good week everyone!

The holidays...

Long time, no post!

I knew this would happen. I'm bad, epically bad, about updating blogs and Katherine just finished up her masters. So this page has suffered for it. But I bought a domain today and redirected to here and that warranted an update. Katherine and I are now the proud owners of thejarnigans.com and will hopefully have a website on it eventually. For now though it will lead you here, to our lovely, and neglected blog.

Quick update: the garden died. One weekend we went out of town and a nice little heat wave came through and roasted everything. We'll give it another go in the Spring and hopefully do a little better with our layout and planning.

This weekend will be our first of four family Christmas events. The Brians clan will be assembling and celebrating Christmas, at my parents' house I believe. We'll be attending Katherine's graduation the following Saturday and then we'll do Christmas with my parents, then her parents, and then the Jarnigan clan. Not to forget Chris' birthday (my brother) and Kristie's (her sister) somewhere in that mix.

Alright, that's enough for now....

More Green Things!

Well, we keep getting more and more hopeful about our garden. Maybe we are at least doing a couple of things right? Our watermelon plant is trying to take over the garden. We also noticed this morning that there is one watermelon growing on the vine. It's hard to believe with all of that vine there is only one growing and not ten. The watermelon plant is already invading the cucumbers space. And speaking of cucumbers, we now have two that are almost full grown. Plus, there are at least two more on the way. Some of our pepper plants have more peppers on there. I think Dan is pretty excited about that. He pulled off four hot peppers the other day, and used two to put on his pizza for lunch.

So we are really excited that we have more fruits and veggies growing in the garden. I guess the heat is giving them an extra boost! Here are some more pics....

Our token watermelon...

Cucumbers!

Oh, and last but not least, Ayda has taken to laying down on the other side of the garden near the fence.

More to come later!
